Getty Museum Challenge Fun

A Young Shepherdess by Jan van Bijlert

Covid-19 has shutdown the world, cut physical connections to the people that we love and care about. Depression was looming around my corner but my spirit was re-energized by this fun internet challenge from the Getty Museum. Inspired by my social media followers’ comments, I decided to make it into a series to bring a little bit of happiness and fun at your corner as well.

Matching the clothes and lighting to the painting is always a tough challenge but nonetheless a fun one. I don’t own a lot of costumes, it just needs a little bit of thinking out of the box to make it look similar to the old painting but still relevant to the current events.

A skirt becomes a dress, a curtain becomes a shawl, a pile of laundry becomes a Gypsy outfit, a broom replaces a musical instrument, toilet paper collars, and so on.
