Ruffles are back in season! Girly ruffles have been, for centuries, featured in fashion and they’re always making a comeback, albeit modernized, from time to time. Even in my tomboy years, I’ve always been drawn to wearing ruffles (I guess the girl in me wanted to come out of the closet). I secretly loved the gently puffed sleeves on my high school uniform that my mom sewed for us kids. My big sister is the opposite, she wouldn’t be caught dead wearing ruffles! She loves wearing simple lines outfit with an athletic style.
Ruffles can be overbearing and typically adds volume to everything they touched. Designers are known for featuring sculptural ruffles in their avant-garde creations which normal people like us wouldn’t wear unless you want to look like a walking flower. A walking and talking peony. No judgment here if that’s what you wanted to be.

For the Love of Ruffles!
My love for dainty ruffles translated into jewelry creation. With love, here I introduced you to Popnicute Jewelry’s newest collection: The Mini Ruffles. Featuring delicate ruffles, they are scrumptious and delightful. I created this new collection with modern bride in mind, the ones who don’t want bling on their big day but instead, a keepsake that can be worn daily. Effortlessly darling, the Mini Ruffles collection would make a great gift of quality for the bridesmaids and maid-of-honors.
Ruffles look darling on wedding cakes and they’ve been a prominent feature on wedding dresses, look elegant on shoes as well. Let it be cotton, silk, chiffon, viscose, or organza, ruffles are undoubtedly fashionable.
The geniuses in the fashion industry have figured out how to make ruffles more wearable for us, the mere human. They know we don’t want to look like a ball of cotton fluffs.
Maybe wearing a ruffly outfit is not your style. Popnicute has come up with a Mini Ruffles Collection featuring mini ruffles on jewelry. Ruffles that you can wear forever, no matter how much you weigh. I have set up a Pinterest board featuring beautiful ruffly tops and bottoms including plus sizes.
How to wear ruffles daily without looking like a fashion victim?
Ruffle Hem Shorts
Caitlin Covington from Southern Curls & Pearls styled these pink ruffly shorts perfectly pairing them with a white Givenchy bag and tan heels. The neutral and muted hues are perfect for the warmer days in spring and summer. From the way she wears ruffles, the Aqua Frill Necklace would make an excellent companion for this casual getup.
Ruffles are for everyone. Adding ruffle sleeves on a fitted simple dress look great on curvy women as the details are subtle and not overbearing. The cut is accentuating her curves, the pink color complements her skin tone, and I love the contrasting white line along the neckline and the bottom of the sleeves. This dress is begging for a necklace, don’t you think? Add I Frill You necklace for a subtle sparkle.
Another great style with subtle ruffles that would look great on most body types is this navy blue halter neck dress. The gentle chiffon fabric is flattering and doesn’t add unnecessary weight to your figure. You can wear this dress repeatedly with no problem unlike Tori Kelly in Badgley Mischka green ruffly dress. While she looks beautiful in it, the ruffles are loud and memorable making it a one-time use dress but if you’re a star that’s kind of expected. Pair this dress with Frilly Hoops earrings to frame your jawline.
Cold Shoulder Ruffle Top
Combining cold shoulder and ruffle trends? Yes, please!!! Cold shoulder tops are usually looking a little awkward but this design is sweet, cut and decorated on the right places make it wearable and more likely to last longer than a season. I don’t know why she looks so gloomy though. Maybe she hadn’t had breakfast yet and nobody would let her eat. I know I would be if it was me. I love how the ruffles on Frill Me Up bangle mimic the ruffles on her black top.
Who says ruffles are only for girls? I sold this bracelet at the art fair last weekend to a man, for himself! I didn’t even get the chance to photograph it on me like the rest of the jewelry in the collection. Frilly Copper Bangle features a simple, straight cut copper bangle with similar ruffle accent that I designed to be a unisex jewelry and that purchase just validated it.
